Stonehouse Bread, Northern Michigan’s first artisan bread company, was acquired in late 2007. The new owners approached Monte Consulting to create a new identity that more clearly communicated the brand’s core values and benefits. The Stonehouse business plan includes the delivery and sales to retail outlets, two cafes, and production of numerous “great with bread” products that include jams, dipping oils, and coffee. With their new identity, Stonehouse requested a website and supporting marketing materials: product labels, bread display posters, recipe cards, café menu, magazine ads, and product photography.
Graphic design: Stonehouse had a logo, signage, and bread sales stations, so Monte Consulting created a new identity that would work within the constraints of existing display options. The new brand repurposes existing elements such as the logo and checker theme with soothing textures, imagery, and colors to capture the essence of Stonehouse Bread.
Web development: To increase usability and facilitate quick updates, Stonehouse needed a website that was easily updated by employees who weren’t necessarily programmers. To achieve this goal and maintain a beautiful website, Monte Consulting built a site using a content management system with a web interface for updates and edits.
Product Photography: To showcase the Stonehouse products, Monte Consulting provided photographic services in our in-house studio. A minimalist approach of woven cloth and wood surfaces was used to allow the organic nature of the products captures the spirit of the brand.
