Client: Michigan Tech ME-EM Department
After a major reorganization of its research enterprise, the Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics (ME-EM) Department needed a way to publicize the new structure and promote its research activities.
The major goal of the annual report was to improve awareness of the Department's research and academic success among key audiences: academic peers, alumni, donors, and corporate sponsors.
Strategic planning: Monte Consulting worked directly with the ME-EM department to structure the document and create a theme, storyline, and visual plan in support of their strategic plan, specific document goals, and target audiences.
Graphic design: One of the major goals of the annual report was to establish a strong visual brand identity for the ME-EM Department that could be carried across other publications and into future annual reports. Monte Consulting designers worked to create elements that reflect the spirit and character of the department.
Writing: Monte Consulting wrote the bulk of the text for the 65-page document, conducting interviews with professors, students, and researchers in order to present the stories behind the research, alumni activities, structural changes, and strategic goals.
Photography: In keeping with the annual report's striking visual storyline, Monte Consulting provided custom photography to capture the spirit and style of the Department, represent the research, and provide unique visual connections to each article's storyline.
